When Chevrolet looked back into its 10 most influential trucks in celebration of 100 years since the introduction of its first one-ton heavy hauler, the 1947-55 Advance Design series stood out as one of the most influential.

The century-long Chevrolet truck legacy continues with this 1950 Chevrolet 3100 series pickup that underwent a body-off restoration that included a refinished oak cargo bed. Model-year 1950 brought wider bench seating with deeper cushioning, a fused circuit-breaker electrical system, revised suspension and a Chevrolet Thriftmaster engine with larger exhaust valves for improved performance to Advance Design formula. The Thriftmaster 216 CI inline 6-cylinder was rebuilt for a return to its factory-rated 92 HP at 3,400 RPM with an open-element air cleaner on the Rochester Power-Jet carburetor.
 
The faithfully detailed stovebolt is backed by a 3-speed manual transmission with a column-mount shifter. Telescopic shock absorbers replaced lever-action units in 1950 for an improved ride, and the ventilated cab features a brown leatherette-upholstered bench seat and fresh carpeting for additional three-across Chevrolet comfort and no-nonsense style. 
 
The all-steel cab and body were stripped, straightened and painted into a two-tone GM Silver Birch and black-fender color scheme, accented by chrome-plated Chevrolet 3100 badging over the signature five-bar horizontal grille and chrome bumpers with guards. Front-mount fog lamps and sideview mirrors increase visibility with period-perfect style, and the refinished oak-wood bed with stainless-steel strips is complemented by matching oak side rails. Black painted steel wheels with wide whitewall tires and a matching side-mount spare are topped with 1956 Chevrolet truck hubcaps for a next-generation Task Force finishing touch to the Advance Design pickup.
